Refosco Peduncolo Rosso DOC

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13% volume

GRAPE VARIETIES USED:100% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso

PRODUCTION AREA AND EXPOSURE: vineyards in the Municipality of Prepotto (Udine) at an altitude of 160m asl, facing south-east.

SOIL TYPE: eocene marl rich in potassium and microelements, good balance of clay and skeleton; poor in organic substance.

TRAINING SYSTEM:Guyot and Sylvoz short cane with a yield of 50/60 quintals per hectare.

VINTAGE: Harvested by hand into crates at the end of September.

VINIFICATION: destemming and crushing of the grapes, maceration for approx. 10 days with daily délestage. Malolactic fermentation completed in wood.

MATURATION AND AGEING: in stainless steel tanks for a few months, then in oak barrels for a further 6/8 months. Further aged in the bottle.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS: this is an extremely old autochtonous Friulan vine, with several known clones. Deep red in colour with purplish tinges. Pervasive, vinous fragrance which recalls autumn leaves and raspberries. Slightly tannic, crisp and sapid.

SUGGESTED PAIRINGS: good with rich meat dishes and traditional country dishes from the Friuli region.

HOW TO SERVE: at a temperature of 16-18° C.
